Community Trends ®

Community Trends coverCommunity Trends® is a monthly magazine published by the New Jersey Chapter of Community Associations Institute with an audience of 2,400 readers. Each month, this publication provides members of CAI with updates on current legislation, monthly messages from the chapter president, informative articles written by professionals and service providers, and a large forum for advertising. Covering an array of topics, Community Trends® gives members the tools needed in order to keep informed on community association issues.

Shoot the Cover

CAI-NJ proudly presents the “Shoot the Cover” photo contest. We are looking for great pictures of the state’s many popular destinations, historical landmarks, and scenic locales – perhaps in your very own community association – to grace the cover of an issue of Community Trends®. But hurry! Entries must be received by the chapter office no later than 5 p.m. on September 15, 2010. The photo selected as the winner will be featured on the cover of the November 2010 issue of Community Trends®.

In addition, the winner will receive a framed cover of the Community Trends® issue featuring his or her photo... PLUS free admission to both the CAI-NJ Pre-conference Networking Reception on October 22nd and the chapter’s annual Conference & Expo on October 23rd.

The second- and third-place photos will receive special recognition inside the November 2010 issue of Community Trends®.

Write for Community Trends®

CAI-NJ and the Editorial Committee are always looking for new articles to publish in Community Trends®.

One of CAI’s major strengths is the willingness of its volunteer members to contribute their time and share their knowledge and experience. Nowhere is that willingness more important or more noticeable than in the area of CAI publications.

Our own chapter magazine is an example of this sharing by our members. Everything that is printed, despite the diversity of the subject matter, has the same goal: to share with other CAI members information that will help them better serve their associations.

All articles are reviewed by the Editorial Committee. We recommend that articles contain no less than 500 words, but no more than 1,800.  Articles should be written in third person, eliminating the use of 'I', 'we', 'me', 'my', and 'our.'  CAI retains the right to edit articles to conform to content space requirements.

If you are interested in submitting an article for possible inclusion, please contact:

The Community Trends® feature 'Ask the Committee' is a section where readers can ask the Editorial Committee, which oversees the magazine, for its feedback about any issue facing the community association industry.

The committee is made up of legal, insurance, engineering and property management professionals with a wealth of information and experience specific to community associations.

'Ask the Committee' letters and e-mails should be directed to:
