Large Senate Majority Votes to Proceed on Flood Insurance Relief Bill

By a vote of 86 to 13, the U.S. Senate has approved a procedural motion to begin debate on S. 1926, the “Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act.” S. 1926 will delay unusually rapid increases in premiums for flood insurance policies purchased through the National Flood Insurance Program.

During debate on S. 1926, CAI Government Affairs projects the Senate may consider as many as 10 amendments to the legislation. Proposed amendments range from technical changes to the legislation to proposals that will significantly modify S. 1926. While the Senate is scheduled to consider S. 1926 through the end of the week, it is possible a vote on final passage will occur as early as Wednesday, January 29th. CAI Government Affairs will continue to monitor Senate debate and provide information updates as necessary.
